Gas Stations (Petrol Stations). There are many gas (petrol) stations in Moscow. The supply of high octane (A-93-95-98) petrol/gasoline is improved dramatically as a growing number of private gas stations complete for the business of the mushrooming number of private autos. Western oil and fluids are available now in AUTOMOBILE PARTS shops.
Octane. All gas stations listed here pump at least Au-93 grade gasoline which is necessary for Western cars. Many Russian cars, however, run on the Au-73, and some cars, taxis and trucks have been converted to propane, methane or butane.
Au-93 = 93 octane Au-95 = 95 octane
Au-98 = lead-free
Fuel Complexes. Fuel complexes are major fueling stops for trucks, automobiles and buses. They have all sorts of facilities and fuels: gasoline, diesel, propane, kerosene, etc. They are listed under PROPANE AND BOTTLED GASES.
Pump it yourself. Gas stations (AZS) are usually self-service. At your turn, put the nozzle in the tank, thus staking your claim on the pump and pay at the little cashier’s window. Press the button (if there is one) and pump the amount of gas for which you paid.
Hours: Open daily unless otherwise stated. Many gas stations are now open 24 hours per day with one or two breaks during the day.
