There are more than 350 establishments in Moscow calling themselves "cafes". They are usually smaller than restaurants and serve a lighter menu and a variety of drinks (but not always coffee).
The larger and better cafes serve a variety of hot dishes and are listed under RESTAURANTS & CAFES. We are not quite sure what these cafes mean when they tell our researchers that they serve "European Cuisine".
Some only offer "stand-up" tables. For quick service look for Minutka, Moment, or Express Cafes.
There are also children’s cafes, and ice cream cafes (see CHILDREN IN MOSCOW).
Hotel cafes can be very nice and are on the elegant side.
